Idea of the day – automatic highway payment

The purpose to this idea is to save time at highway toll. Actually if you want to save time (at least in France) you need to have a specific and rented device detecting you and billing you. The current technology could allow the highway company to detect you car registration plate with a camera. This ID could be linked with a registration you have made online of different car you own and a credit card + a phone number.

Car would pass through the toll, be billed and this could be confirmed by an SMS sent to the user.

As a consequence, the system could be faster, not attached with a monthly payment and easier to manage (no hard device to move car to car, return, maintain …)

Idea of the day – virtual local shopping platform

The purpose of this idea is to make a middle step between local physical shopping and Internet shopping. The problem of local & physical shopping is that you have to go to multiple place with your car to get advice and product, when you go to the shop you never sure to find what you are looking for, but if you find it, you can immediately get it.

On Internet shopping, it’s hard to get advice, you have to deal with technical description by yourself and depend on the product category it is more or less easy. Once you finally find a product you want, you need to wait at least half a week to get it.

The idea is to have a new type of on line shopping where you can easily discuss (vocally) with someone to find the right references regarding the type of need you have and your budget. The distant person providing you the advice would be able to show you the product by doing a kind of web conference where he will navigate through the shop website to show you the products. Then you would be able to place an order and to take your car to take it directly like a driving classical shop.

Idea of the day – micropayment to consult blog and article

The purpose of this idea is to propose an alternative to advertisement to finance websites and blogs. I my point of view, the problem is not to pay to read an article, when the quality is good enough, the problem is the way to pay. When you subscribe to a website you generally have to do it monthly, even if you are not interested by the whole content. As a consequence, the price is high and not adapted to the classical web surf jumping from a site to another.

The idea is to have a wallet easily accessible, like a paypal system we could use to pay to watch an article or to consult a website a limited time like 1min or 1hour or more. The price should be a couple of cents to replace the ads system. The system must be standard and widely used to make sense. Article could be accessed only after paying or free but easily congratulated by a donation.

It really looks paypal, but able to do quickly transactions for 0.01$ or less with a pre-founded account.

Idea of the day – dropbox for parcels

With web commerce, we are actually facing the difficulty to get our parcels at home, some are requiring signatures, some are too big and the transporter (ups, fedex, post) never come the right time. They come again and at the end we need to go to get our parcel. There are some shops where we can get parcel also, but they are rare, closed on monday, closed after 7pm …

The purpose of this idea is to have safes where parcels can be delivered. This dropbox can be owned by a post office, a transporter, a shop or an individual person. All will be referred in a system and what you will have to do is to choose a space in the nearest from your home. Reserve it for a period, obtain a secret code to open it and put this address and this code as the delivery address for your parcel. The transporter will let the parcel in, then you will use another personal code to open it a second time and get your parcel.

This service will have a cost for the user and could also have a cost for transporter as it simplify the delivery process be limiting the number of retry. The idea is to make it a viable model to cover the investment of the drop box in a reasonable time.

Idea of the day : meeting room auto configuration

The purpose of this idea is to locate a professional laptop inside a meeting room to automatically setup the video, audio connectivity to the equipment of the room. The solution would be fully wireless, based on wifi connectivity to room equipments. On the laptop a specific software allow to take control of the video, audio to start conferencing. This can also be coupled to a video conference to help connection. This could also be used for locating users by populating location information given by the IM systems. All of this could be based on wifi for location detection and device connectivity but the location precision is an important thing so other external system could be imagine even if they make it more complex to deploy.

Idea of the day – get road status from tires

This is about making a system, able to measure the state of the road like water, snow, ice and locate it precisely. These information would be transmitted, for example using bluetooth to the driver cell phone, then publish on a central website. This website will then share the data to alarming systems and GPS system to send alerts before you reach a dangerous zone. The GPS will also be able to propose you a safer road than the direct one.

Idea of the day – collaborative price capture and comparaison

The purpose of this idea is to have a website and its attached applications to capture price in the shop to be able to compare it between shops. This already exists but is provided by the distributors themselves and as a consequence they are not objective in the choice of the article able to be compared.

The articles are simply scanned by shoppers, it can also update a shopping list, then the price is manually entered if the already known price has changed and it refresh a central database with the actual price.

The system helps people to find the right place to do shopping regarding his own shopping list at a specific point of time.

Business plan can be based on near future shopping informations shared with the shops.

Idea of the day – Safe Nas

This product is like a classical NAS, but it is a safe NAS. It means that all the content is encrypted with a personal key. It is accessible on wifi only and the access is only authorized for 1 hour, once you have unlock it with your finger print. At this point it will give you a password for the Samba mount ; this password change every-time. In background this NAS is replicating the encrypted content to a cloud storage system for a protection against data loss. All the data are encrypted into the NAS. The product offer limited storage size 64GB, 128GB as it is made for sensitive data, not divx storage … It is sold a reasonable price with a one year cloud subscription, then subject to yearly subscription.
